Who stands to suffer more in the case of a false rape or sexual harrassement allegation?

Do women actually lose their jobs or scholarships or reputation if a false case of rape or sexual harrassement is filed against her?

Compare this to a man who even if found inncocent just loses all?

Are we happy and content with this setup?Who stands to suffer more in the case of a false rape or sexual harrassement allegation?
It is true that sexual harassment against men in the workplace does not tend to be taken as seriously as against women. And false rape claims are very damaging and traumatic for men. This is not fair, and something should be done about it.

However it is not true that female teachers who have relationships with students are not sacked - there have been a lot of cases recently where this has happened.

However, consider the number of women who are truly raped and then look at the conviction rate for rape in Britain and America. In britain right now it is below 6%, and that is the cases that get brought to the police, which is by no means all of them. Think how horriffic it is to be raped and not believed, which is a far more common occurence - they estimate that only 1-2% of rape cases are falsely reported, which is a lot lower than robbery etc for obvious reasons.

None of this is fair and until we have genuine equality in everything, especially sexual matters, these issue will not be resolved. Sexual harassment against men will continue not to be taken seriously, and the rape of hundreds of thousands of women a year will go unpunished.Who stands to suffer more in the case of a false rape or sexual harrassement allegation?
The attitude of most people - male and female - to a man who claims to be sexually harassed would be ';Wow, lucky him, what's the idiot complaining about.'; This is because men have been the sexual aggressors for millions of years and the general belief is that men are looking for sex all the time, so logically, how can they be harassed?

No, of course this is not fair - but it goes to show that there is a price to pay for millennia of male sexual aggression.
You make it sound like millions of men are being accused of rape and sexual harassment. Can't you come up with a single government statistic, anything, that gives a balanced view? You obsess about this as though men are victimized night and day, and women are lying in wait to falsely accuse anyone they can.

Women and men get raped. Women and men are sexually harassed. It's not right, but it happens. Our society obviously doesn't care. We don't try very hard to educate, rehabilitate, or stop the violence. Some men and women falsely report crimes, not just rape, sexual harassment or battering-how about theft, burglary, or property damage; men and women accuse each other of stealing from each other too.

Do you know how many women and men lose their jobs for telling someone about sexual harassment? Do you really think that female school teachers aren't fired when accused of inappropriate conduct with a student? Otherwise the school district would be setting themselves up for countless law suits.

I've seen male sexual harassers in the workplace get away with harassing many woman in the workplace. No one cared, and many women complained to a manager or a manager's manager. It didn't matter. The only way to get away from their behavior was to get a new job. I've never seen a man fired for sexually harassing a woman, and I've seen them doing it in quite a few Fortune 500 companies, and I've had it happen to me as well.
men, i hope so, he's hosed, not me
False rape or actual rape is committed by both men/women.

Generally women remain safe in such cases where as men suffer a lot.It is not fair. Both should be treated equally when offense is proved.
Not related to sex, whomever accuses of sexual harassment is usually the one to suffer the most.
If you had a Babbie to a false rape would it be Jesus?
Unfourtunately the underlying assumtion exists that sexual violence of women against minors is not as bad as violence commited by men. Thats why a male teacher charged with sexual missconduct looses his job and a female teacher doesnt.
I dunno, I hate men %26amp; women who rape, and I hate men %26amp; women who falsely accuse someone of rape.

Helen, if the man is gay then the advance of a female would be harassment; the survival of our species has depended on the sexual aggressiveness of males; and since harassment is the unwanted sexual advancement of another then if the female is a bloated repulsive feminist the man would certainly have been harassed.

P.P.S. Cassius that's a very very good point
Unfortunately, we are still behind in this aspect of law. There are too many double standards. Too many loopholes. I have not heard of women who have been charged with sexual harrassment losing anything. I have heard about men who have lost everything when the same happens.

I am not happy about this. I belive in equal rights for everyone....
That ';playing field'; is being leveled. Women get stigmatized just as much as men do for sexual harrassment, statutory rape and false accusations. The ';system'; has become much more aware that many women make false claims and are capable of raping boys. In the past ... it was assumed that the weaker sex, women, were always telling the truth. Not anymore. In the past, women were never arrested for statutory rape ... it's in the news frequently today.
well, in the long run i believe people who have actually been raped or sexually harassed suffer the most.

in the immediate situation, i'd say the one falsely accused pretty much gets screwed. it's sad, really.
